It was bizarre to say the least. I feel like it was pretty basic, and they needed a host (I’m side-eyeing the shit out of MTV for not asking Jimmy Fallon). I felt like it had nothing gluing it together. To the producers and director, I speak directly to you: Not only does host keep things moving along, they can distract the audience from your stage hands breaking down each set. It made it awkward watching Adele kinda stand there after the lights came up and you didn’t got to commercial, not to mention how even more awkward it was watching Chris Brown walk off the stage, which you felt it was appropriate to linger on him walking. These mistakes wasted precious minutes that you guys probably couldn’t afford to waste. I don’t want to come off as snobby, and I know from experience how hard it is to produce. Something on this scale is beyond difficult to work with, so I applaud you for your effort and hard work.
I’m just gonna but this out there, because I know everyone is thinking it: What the hell Gaga!?! That was hands down the most bizarre VMA opening ever! The theatricality weird and the monologue went on to long. Also, you talking about yourself cumming in a third person reference is kinda gross. However, I’m glad that you recovered nicely after you fell and I’m happy the director didn’t exploit it. Holla Brian Mays!!!!!
Adele was perfection, like always. She looked stunning and her standing “O” was well deserved and should’ve lasted longer. Someone like you is my favorite song off of 21 and she sounded better live. All of the awards should’ve gone to her.
Was it just me or were the presenters kinda boring? Not even Will Ferrell as a Beastie Boy made it entertaining. Also, what was up with Cloris Leachmen?
Can we talk about the Britney tribute? Home girl has been in the game 13 years strong and you pay respect to her by having a bunch of little kids dress up like her and dance for like two minutes. Then, her speech kept on getting interupted by Gaga. Thheeeennnnn, her speech wasn’t even really a speech, it turned into an intro to Beyonce.
Speaking of B, Congratz girl!!! What a way to end a performance! Jay and Yeezy’s reaction was beyond cute! I watched the performance again, and I have to say it was a cute message to her unborn baby.
Jay and Yeezy killed! I didn’t expect them to be there, and their performance was a prime example of less is more. They didn’t need dancers in booty shorts and lasers to bring down the house.
Katy Perry:

Biebs:

I’m not even gonna comment on Tyler.
What the hell was Jared Leto wearing? Lol!
Amy Winehouse tribute, Russell Brand’s and Tony Bennet’s speeches were truth! I was all like:

She sounded amazing and she looked so good. I give a huge round of applause to the editors for that reel of Amy. It was so beautiful and it showcase how sweet she was.
The tribute performance on the other hand:

Of all of her amazing song, you go with Valarie? That was a cover! You should’ve gone with one of her song. I would’ve loved to have heard a medley of “You know I’m No Good”, “Back to Black”, and “He Can Only Hold Her”. Really? Bruno Mars? Don’t get me wrong, he’s a good singer and is a talented song writer, it’s just I felt like he didn’t connect with the song. Also, I wanted Adele to be apart of the tribute, and Florence too! Maybe even Cee-lo I did like how he incorporated Amy being missed into the song. And seeing everyone clap and singing along gave me the chills.
Lol at Drake trying to go hard in the sweater.
I can’t help but to love Weezy, the only man on this planet who can make skinny jeans sag. I loved his performance!
To conclude this post, the show was ok.
(P.S.: What is a Hunger Game? And why is it the new Twilight?)
